Another Reader's Question.  Can anyone help this person.  I have my ideas, what are yours?  Can we get some help from everyone else?

Hi there,

Was surfing the web trying to understand more about MS and came across your site.  I've got a few simple questions and simple-minded observations.  Maybe you can help me discover how to deal/understand.

  1. My neurologist stated that I had a brain scan, that was consistent with MS patients, about 4 years ago.  Another scan was conducted last summer ('07) and a more definitive statement was made that I would likely experience symptoms sometime, but "not to worry".  OK, I'll deal with that. The reason for the scans was significant migraine activity for multiple years.
  2. As an aside, I suffer from a chronic auto-immune disease (Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura) and extreme abnormal clotting resulting in heart attack three years ago and pulmonary embolisms last fall.  I was treated with Rituxan.  I see this is a potential treatment for MS.
  3. Two weeks ago, I began experiencing a strange sensation in my left leg, just below thigh level, which can best be described as a mix between numbness and pins/needles sensation. It is constant.  No deviation in severity.  It's always there.
  4. Over the past 3 months, my wife has complained to me about using the wrong words in sentences.  For example, using Barn instead of Farm, or TV instead of stereo.  Very strange.  Doc wrote this off as anxiety due to the multiple clots I am still battling and accompanying stress.  I am improving in this area (i.e. clots) and my stress is lessening and I have seen a dramatic fall off of this word mismatch problem.

What I would like to know, and I know you can't provide medical advice, but, are any of these symptoms similar to MS onset?  I don't know who to talk to about this other than someone, or some group, like yours on the web.  I will be seeing my doctor next Friday, but this is weighing on my mind and I need some info.

Anything you or your readers can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks,
