Each relapse can last for days or months and there is partial or total recovery between relapses. These periods of remission can last for months or even years.

Secondary-Progressive MS (SPMS)This form is associated with the development of progressive disability, typically several years after the person first develops MS.

Primary-Progressive MS (PPMS)People with this form of MS typically experience accumulation of disability without relapses and there is currently no proven effective treatment for this form of MS. However research is being conducted to find effective drugs to treat this form of MS.
